Dec 29, 2023

By Rajesh Saha: A massive fire broke out in a commercial building in Kolkata on Tuesday. However, the fire was soon brought under control by the firefighters. No casualties have been reported so far.

The fire started on the second floor of the six-story building situated on Acharya Prafulla Chandra (APC) Road in central Kolkata.

Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control. An additional police force from Muchupara police station was also deployed to assist the firefighters and to keep the situation under control.

In addition, a team from the disaster management group of Kolkata Police also reached the spot to support the firefighters and to evacuate the trapped people from the six-storied building.

According to local sources, work related to plywood has been going on on the second floor of the building for a few days, which could have led to the fire breakout on Tuesday. However, the fire department has not yet confirmed the reason for the fire breakout.
